Support for the world’s poorest children

Our founding fathers supported destitute children, and helping them is still something that is close to our heart today. The figures are alarming:

  • 300 million children are exposed to domestic violence
  • 264 million children and teenagers do not go to school
  • 160 million of the world’s children work

Your donation makes a difference. Your solidarity gives needy children the help they require.

Education, security and dignity

To help uphold the basic rights of children, over the past 30 years we have funded around 500 projects in over 50 countries.

Through your donations, our partner organisations have, for example, provided vulnerable children in India and Guatemala with better access to education in 2020, tackled child labour in Mali and Pakistan, and helped better protect children from violence in Bolivia and Cameroon.

Many children missed nearly two years of schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic in Latin America and South Asia. The 20 projects carried out focused primarily on ensuring access to education and encouraging children to return to school.

Swiss partner NGOs funded

Enfants du Monde, Fondation Hirondelle, Fondation Terre des Hommes, Helvetas, IAMANEH Switzerland, Médecins du Monde Suisse, Save the Children Switzerland, SolidarMed, Solidar Suisse, SWISSAID, Terre des Hommes Suisse and Vivamos Mejor

When selecting child relief projects, we prioritise children from low-income backgrounds whose circumstances make them especially vulnerable and in need of support and protection.

"Swiss Solidarity has a tradition of helping children. Since our inception, we have been committed to ensuring that disadvantaged children have access to education, safety and dignity. We are immensely proud of this work."
