Aid for refugees

The crises in the Middle East are driving millions of people from their homes. We need your help to supply these refugees with humanitarian aid, comprising urgent emergency relief measures.

An inhuman disaster

The conflicts in the Middle East, and especially the war in Syria, have been driving people out of their homes for many years. In fear of their lives and those of their families, they must leave everything behind.
Most of the refugees are stranded in the countries neighbouring Syria, such as Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey. Iraq, which itself is the scene of conflict, is also sheltering a quarter of a million refugees.

Whether they are fleeing, travelling along migration routes or stranded in a host country, these refugees rely on humanitarian aid to survive.

"I dream of going back to Syria. But at the moment, my family and I depend on emergency relief to buy food and to pay our rent."
Sana Al-Hawtari has been living with her family in a refugee camp in Beirut for four years

How your donation helps

Our partner NGOs carry out projects, verified by us, which are tailored precisely to the needs of those they help:

  • They treat the sick and injured
  • They protect children from exploitation and abuse, and help children and adults alike to work through their trauma
  • They give the refugees money so that they can buy the most urgent and most needed things for themselves

Emergency relief

We support flexible short-term projects along migration routes so that our partner NGOs can adapt rapidly to the ever-changing situation. Our partner organizations treat the sick and injured, distribute food, and offer legal advice to the refugees.

Around four million Syrian refugees are currently living in the neighbouring countries of Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq. Some of these people have been living for several years in refugee camps or in precarious circumstances with friends, in ruined buildings, or in repurposed garages.

Long-term aid

Here, we join forces with our partner NGOs to support long-term projects. In addition to providing emergency relief such as the distribution of food or medical treatment for the sick and injured, we ensure that children are able to go to school, we improve living conditions, and provide cash assistance.

Cash assistance means that the refugees are given money so that they can decide for themselves, with dignity, what they most urgently need. Most use it to pay the rent, or buy food or medicines.

Refugees in Serbia receive food from our partner NGO HEKS.
