National Day of Solidarity on 21 December

Nearly one in five children worldwide is excluded from education. Education is a key tool in the fight against poverty, as it creates equal opportunities, breaks the cycle of violence and lays the foundations for a better future. That is why, together with SRG, we are calling for solidarity with the youngest.

Education for all – A future for children and young people in Switzerland and worldwide

Worldwide, 244 million children of school age don’t have access to education. Children without access to education are often at increased risk of poverty and social exclusion. But young people in Switzerland are also affected, with one in ten having no education. Young people without education are four times more likely to live in poverty later in life. Education is a crucial factor in gaining access to skilled employment opportunities in adulthood and thus to a decent income.

Our donations help to give them access to high-quality education and training and give them the chance of a self-determined future.

National Day of Solidarity on 21 December

From 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m., presenters, celebrities and volunteers take listeners’ donation pledges at our switchboards in Zurich, Geneva, Chur and Lugano. Together, we are setting an example for equal opportunities and high-quality education for all. Well-known musicians also support us in this mission; their performances can be seen via livestream on srf1.ch. Radio SRF 1 presenter Sandra Schiess will host the programme in Zurich Leutschenbach.

Music requests for a good cause

On Radio SRF3, the whole week will be dedicated to solidarity. From Monday, 18 December to Thursday, 21 December, you can help determine the music programme on SRF 3. For a donation, you can request your favourite song or bid for an exclusive live session in the radio studio – Andryy, Loco Escrito and Kings Eliott are guaranteed to give you goosebumps.

Join us in making a difference to the future of our children and young people and laying the foundations for a fair and inclusive society. Donations are also possible now.
