ESCUnites: Swiss Solidarity and the SSR launch a platform for community projects

National day of Solidarity: 6.4 million francs raised after the earthquake in South-East Asia
09.04.2025In collaboration with the SSR units and the private radio stations, Swiss Solidarity has collected 6.4 million francs in donations today, on the occasion of the national day of solidarity in favour of the victims of the violent earthquake that occurred in Southeast Asia.

Tuesday 8 April: NATIONAL DAY OF SOLIDARITY after the earthquake in South-East Asia
08.04.2025Today, Tuesday 8 April, Swiss Solidarity is organising, with the support of the SSR, a national day of solidarity for the victims of the violent earthquake that struck South-East Asia. For 16 hours, the call centers in Zurich, Geneva, Lugano and Chur will be calling for donations to support Swiss Solidarity’s NGO partners in helping the survivors of the disaster. The President of the Swiss Confederation, Karin Keller-Sutter, is launching this national mobilisation, which brings together many personalities and volunteers around the same spirit of solidarity.

Today, the needs remain immense, and the Ukrainian people are exhausted. Swiss Solidarity has already used almost 80% of the donations received since 2022 to support the country’s population. Now concerned that it will lose its ability to provide aid in the long term, the foundation is again appealing for donations.

2023 in Review: Swiss Solidarity receives over 54 million francs to help those in need
05.02.2024n 2023, against a backdrop of increasing crises, Swiss Solidarity (SwS) maintained its unwavering commitment to those hit by humanitarian crises. Last year, the organisation committed almost CHF 70 million to supporting the victims of humanitarian crises worldwide and vulnerable people in Switzerland. This is the single largest annual amount since 2005, when Swiss Solidarity responded to the tsunami in South-East Asia. Over the course of 2023, Swiss Solidarity raised over CHF 54 million in donations thanks to the solidarity of the people of Switzerland.

Swiss Solidarity’s second “Solidarity Barometer” is out
18.12.2023Swiss Solidarity has published its second solidarity barometer. Carried out by the Sotomo research institute in collaboration with the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation and the Center for Philantrophy Studies (CEPS), the aim of the survey is to analyse changes in the Swiss population's perception of solidarity. The survey reveals that the perception of human relations has improved considerably since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

02.11.2023The war in the Middle East has already claimed thousands of lives, most of them civilians. The situation is particularly precarious for the 2.4 million people of the Gaza Strip. They have been cut off from water, food, medicine and electricity since 9 October.

Swiss Solidarity goes into action following the devastating earthquake in Afghanistan
10.10.2023On Saturday 7 October, a violent 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck western Afghanistan. Early estimates place the death toll at close to 2,500, and the number of injured in the thousands. As Afghanistan had already been dealing with a grave humanitarian crisis before the quake struck, the country will not be able to recover from this latest disaster on its own. To bring urgent and vital aid to the Afghan people, Swiss Solidarity (SwS) is launching an appeal for solidarity.
