In the South Indian state of Kerala, the exceptionally strong monsoon has led to devastating floods. Hundreds of thousands of people have had to leave their homes and get themselves and their families to safety. More than 400 people have already died.

Help urgently needed

Communication has collapsed, entire villages have been cut off from the outside world and the people who have managed to get to safety urgently require food, clothing, medical aid and shelter. It is still too soon to think about reconstruction. But all the flooded houses must be completely rebuilt. Here too, the local population need our help.

Partner NGOs and their partners provide assistance

Several of our partner NGOs have close links with India and have been working in the region for several years. Their local partners have already started distributing food, clothing and toiletries. They can also help to ensure hygiene and water supply. In the foreseeable future we will support our partners when it comes to rebuilding homes.
