Sudan Emergency
Facing one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, your solidarity is essential to provide lifesaving assistance to the more than 33 million people affected by the war in Sudan.

The civilian population, particularly women and children, is paying the highest price in this catastrophe. Relentless attacks, violence, repeated displacement, and lack of access to food, healthcare, education or a safe place to stay… Millions of people have lost everything while fleeing the violence of the war and now depend on humanitarian aid that is being reduced further every day due to a lack of funding.

Your solidarity helps provide lifesaving assistance
Given the severity of the situation, every donation enables our partner NGOs to provide lifesaving assistance in Sudan, as well as in South Sudan and Chad, where millions of people have sought refuge. They provide food, safe drinking water, medical care, safe shelter and essential supplies, protect the most vulnerable people, and support families in gradually rebuilding their livelihoods. Your solidarity is essential to sustain and strengthen this lifesaving assistance for those who depend on it to survive.
Swiss Solidarity’s aid
The projects we support focus on these three areas:
- Survival: food, safe drinking water, medical care, nutrition, shelter, essential supplies and financial assistance
- Protection: support for victims of violence, prevention of sexual violence, psychosocial support, family reunification, hygiene products and safe spaces
- Self-reliance: support for livelihoods, agriculture, livestock farming or fishing, as well as assistance for communities hosting refugees.

Three years of war in Sudan – Swiss Solidarity calls for donations
15.04.2026Three years after the outbreak of war in Sudan, the humanitarian situation remains dramatic and largely overlooked by the international community. It is currently the largest humanitarian crisis in the world. To continue supporting the severely affected populations, Swiss Solidarity is calling for donations.
FAQ
After more than three years of war, humanitarian needs remain immense. Millions of people have been forced to flee their homes, hunger has reached critical levels, and access to healthcare, safe drinking water and safe places is severely restricted. At the same time, funding for humanitarian assistance is declining, and some aid operations are already having to be scaled back due to a lack of resources.
The crisis does not stop at Sudan’s borders. Millions of people have fled the violence, and many have found refuge in neighbouring countries, particularly Chad and South Sudan. These countries are themselves facing major humanitarian needs, and the communities hosting refugees often have very limited resources. Swiss Solidarity therefore supports aid wherever the impact of the crisis is greatest.
Swiss Solidarity has been engaged since the war began in 2023 and has already run an initial solidarity campaign to support affected communities. Together with its partner organisations, it has since been funding projects in Sudan, Chad and South Sudan.
But after more than three years of war, the crisis still receives very little attention, while humanitarian needs remain immense and available funding is shrinking. Due to funding shortfalls, some aid programmes are already being scaled back. This new campaign therefore aims to bring the crisis back into focus and raise the resources needed to continue and strengthen assistance on which millions of people depend.
Donations help fund food and safe drinking water, medical care, shelter and essential supplies. They also help protect and support particularly vulnerable people, including children, women, displaced people and victims of violence, while helping families gradually rebuild their livelihoods.
