Rohingya fundraising day: Twice as much donated as expected – Many thanks!

Donations doubled

On 23 May, Swiss Solidarity and SRG held a national fundraising day in support of theRohingyain Bangladesh, with the support of private radio stations. By midnight we had received donation pledges of CHF 3,025,262.

Three weeks after the fundraising day we have received double the amount of donations pledged on the day.

This is an unbelievable expression of solidarity on the part of our donors; we can count on them in the name of the victims of crises and disasters.

This money is even more necessary that the monsoon has started to create great hazards in Bangladesh: three people have died due to landslides and hundreds are injured or have been left homeless.

How your donation helps

Eight partner NGOs currently receive funding from Swiss Solidarity: Caritas Switzerland, HEKS, Helvetas, Medair, Fondation Hirondelle, Save the Children, the Swiss Red Cross and Terre des hommes – children’s relief. Thanks to your donations, in the next few months they can work to mitigate the impact of the damage caused by the coming monsoon season. In particular, the charities will help to reinforce buildings and prevent the outbreak of disease, provide medical care, feed the undernourished and help children to overcome trauma.
