Exceptional solidarity from the Swiss population - Swiss Solidarity has already raised over CHF 11 million to support Blatten
The outpouring of support in response to the rockslide in Blatten (VS) is immense. The appeal for solidarity launched by the Foundation last week received a massive response and in one week raised more than 11 million Swiss francs in donations to provide emergency aid and long-term support for those affected. Across the country, solidarity initiatives and fund-raising campaigns have been launched to help the stricken community, demonstrating once again that solidarity is a deeply rooted value in Switzerland.
Swiss Solidarity director Miren Bengoa: "Swiss Solidarity has many years of experience in responding to natural disasters in Switzerland. We pool the solidarity of the population and convert it into effective and targeted aid. To support those affected in the medium and long term, we will be able to adapt our aid according to changing needs".
Assistance in several phases
Swiss Solidarity is already in contact with the municipality of Blatten and will continue its intervention in coordination with the canton of Valais, the Swiss Red Cross and Caritas. The foundation's support will be provided in several phases. At present, those affected can receive direct financial aid to cover their most urgent needs. The Foundation will then be able to cover additional costs, such as extra rent, loss of income or business interruption, and damage to associations. In a third phase, private individuals will receive assistance to cover costs not covered by insurance, and other projects benefiting the population will be financed in close collaboration with the authorities.

04.06.2025Thanks to a remarkable outpouring of solidarity from the Swiss population and the support of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG), Swiss Solidarity has already been able to collect more than CHF 11 million for the people affected by the rockslide in Blatten. These donations will enable Swiss Solidarity to provide rapid and lasting help to those affected.
