Extremely restricted humanitarian access
The blockade imposed by the Israeli authorities and the continuing attacks are preventing the rapid and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance to the population in need. It is imperative to guarantee safe and unrestricted humanitarian access to Gaza. Strict compliance with international humanitarian law must be guaranteed. Without this, human suffering - already unbearable - will continue to worsen.
Our partner NGOs are ready to step up their action in the Gaza Strip. However, access to people in need remains dependent on the lifting of the Israeli blockade and the possibility of transporting essential goods to the Gaza Strip. They have been present in Gaza for years, know the realities on the ground and work in strict compliance with the humanitarian principles of neutrality, impartiality, independence and humanity.
What solidarity has made possible
Swiss Solidarity has been mobilized since the beginning of the escalation of violence. Thanks to the solidarity of the Swiss population, we have raised more than 8.5 million Swiss francs. With these donations, 21 humanitarian projects have been financed: 18 in Gaza and 3 in Lebanon, implemented by our Swiss NGO partners.
These projects include:
- Distribution of food kits, drinking water and hygiene products
- Emergency medical care, including sexual and reproductive health
- Shelter for displaced families
- Psychosocial support for children and women
- One-off financial aid to meet basic needs
Now, more than ever, solidarity is essential.
« The civilian victims of the conflict in Gaza are at greater risk every day. In the face of this intolerable suffering, we refuse to be indifferent. Thanks to the solidarity of our donors, we are able to provide vital aid, even if it is still insufficient given the scale of the needs. »
